Today on Christmas Eve, please spare a thought for those who have suffered in the devastating bushfires sweeping the country.
Our rural and regional communities, who are the life and soul of the Australian wine industry, are bearing the pain of these fires and drought, and unfortunately, 2020 will be a year of recovery for many. Australian Grape & Wine express our sympathies to our friends and the wider communities who are living with the impacts of the fires in NSW, Adelaide Hills, and Granite Belt.
However, we are stronger when we work together. To that end, we want to share the ways everyone can help our friends recover from the fires and drought – here are a couple of ways you can contribute to the recovery of the regions directly:
The Adelaide Hills Wine Region has started a Fire Appeal, with all proceeds being directly channeled to affected wine and grower businesses and families in the region: https://www.adelaidehillswine.com.au/fireappeal
The Granite Belt has suffered a double whammy with bushfires and water shortages leaving many without a crop this Vintage. The Granite Belt Wine Association has a dedicated page to raise awareness and assistance to businesses and families: https://www.facebook.com/granitebeltdrought/
And lastly, our thanks and gratitude goes out to the NSW Rural Fire Service and the SA Country Fire Service. We are in awe of your strength, bravery and selflessness.
