The Australian Grape & Wine Packaging Committee is a forum for direct discussion among industry stakeholders of packaging-related issues in response to political, technological, environmental, regulatory and market driven changes in wine and wine product packaging. It will do this by way of:
- Maintaining, updating and promotion of the industry’s Wine Packaging Guidelines;
- providing a strong voice from industry to the supply chain, with particular regard to innovation, best practice, fit for purpose and proposed product changes;
- monitoring and addressing trends and issues in wine packaging and providing appropriate information to industry on these;
- monitoring international and domestic regulatory and market access issues which could impact wine packaging and providing up to date information to the sector on these;
- consideration of consumer safety and the use of new technology to protect brand Australia;
- understanding and promoting packaging innovation and supporting appropriate direction of R&D, through both Wine Australia and commercial entities; and
- advising and receiving feedback from Australian Grape & Wine on the above points.
Packaging Committee Membership will include Australian Grape & Wine members, industry bodies (including AWRI, Wine Australia and WISA) and other experts and advisors as required.
Meetings will be held quarterly, with working groups delegated to progress particular issues when required.
